Editor's Choice Game
Strawberry Shortcake and her Berry Best Friends
Reviewed by Angie Kibiloski

The Game Factory strikes gold again, or I should say pink, with the brand new Strawberry Shortcake and her Berry Best Friends (Retail $19.99) for the PC. Your little girls will LOVE this game, which is rated ages five and up. I was SO impressed with this game, for its lovable characters, bright, colorful, unique world, and its fun activities. I spent hours being entertained myself, and I haven't been five in a very long time. For anyone who loved Strawberry Shortcake as a child, and would like to continue that tradition with your own kids, this game is an absolute must have.
Oh no! Pupcake has been playing with Strawberry Shortcake's scrapbook and has lost all of the contents. Strawberry Shortcake must start fresh and collect new things to fill up the pages of her brand new blank scrapbook. You can help her out by joining her at the houses of each of her friends and playing games or completing activities. When you successfully finish a challenge or win a game, her friends will reward her with something for her scrapbook, by letting you choose from a set of three cool items. These prizes include sound effects, background paper, printable coloring pages, and colorful pictures of Strawberry Shortcake and her friends. Each friend has their own set of pages to be filled up in the scrapbook, and there are lots of items to collect. So keep playing the games until you fill up the entire book. Plus, by choosing to play a game from the main screen when the magic rainbow is shining on it, you can choose a special golden strawberry as your prize.

There are three difficulty levels in each activity so that all ages of gamers can be challenged. The level can be chosen before each time you play the individual activities. At Orange Blossom's tree house, switch fruit around to match rows of three and fill the juice container. In Angel Cake's bakery, decorate a cake, by memory, that matches exactly to the one wrapped up in the delivery box. Inside Strawberry Shortcake's own house, search for picnic items amongst the mess that mischievous Pupcake and Custard have made. Out in Apple Dumplin's garden, choose which tree she is hiding behind by matching colors and patterns from the clue box. Strawberry Shortcake has a garden too, and she needs your help planting exactly which combination of plants she wants. Join Honey Pie at the races and pick the winning horse by doing some mathematics. At Ginger Snap's cookie factory, choose the correct five elements to make the perfect cookie. Blueberry Muffin will tell you a story about her hunt for her pet mouse Cheesecake, and you must help her by finding clues along the way. On Rainbow Sherbet's boat, choose the correct musical notes to complete the songs that Triple Dip Toucan is trying to sing. In Huckleberry Pie's briar patch, jump on top of toadstools to match three fruits before you sink into the briars.

All of these activities are really fun, and the characters and environments are so cheerful and full of life. Just by looking at the main screen you won't be able to help but smile. Strawberry Shortcake and her Berry Best Friends is a game that all ages can play again and again. Even after you fill up Strawberry Shortcake's scrapbook, you can still go back and play the games again, print out more coloring pages, and just flip through all the fun prizes in the scrapbook itself. This is a truly dynamic game and gets my absolute highest marks. Definitely the best children's game I have played this year. Put this game on your Christmas list, birthday list, or go out and buy it right now just for the fun of it. You will be Berry glad that you did.
