Saitek Photo Mouse

Reviewed by Terry Kibiloski

The Saitek Photo Mouse (Retail $19.95) is an ideal gift for someone special when you can't decide whether to get them a computer mouse or a picture frame. This photo mouse can perform both functions. All you do is print out your favorite photograph, cut it to the right size using the template provided, position it under the Photo mouse's transparent cover and secure it by closing the cover. When you plug in the Photo Mouse, the internal white spotlight lights your photo. How is that for a functional mobile picture frame?

The Saitek Photo Mouse is both practical and fun. During our testing, we found it to be a durable, very comfortable 3-button mouse with a well-placed scroll wheel and an accurate optical sensor. There is no setup required. All you do is simply plug it into your USB port and it is ready to go. It uses USB 2.0 connectivity and is compatible with Windows XP, XP64 and Windows Vista (all versions), plus Mac OS X.

We suggest you consider buying two, one for a gift and one for yourself. Having an illuminated photo in your mouse makes computing a little more fun. We also suggest that you include multiple photos, cut to the right size for the mouse, when you give it as a gift. This will ensure that your gift receiver can easily, and quickly, change photos on the mouse to keep you fresh on their mind. We thought of many ideas for giving the Saitek Photo Mouse as a gift, everything from sending one to your Valentine with a photo of the two of you, to presenting it to loyal employees with a miniature award photo, to sending it to special family members with a photo of your new baby. This is one of those fun accessories that can be used as a gift for many occasions.
