The ZVOX Mini Single-Cabinet Audio System (Retail $199.99), from ZVOX Audio, is absolutely awesome! It fills your room with rich surround sound that has you turning around to find the other speakers. As our long time readers know, we are a hard sell here at Computer Times. We seldom, if ever, use words like awesome, but for the ZVOX Mini there is no other word that is fitting for this superb audio system.

We tested the ZVOX Mini in the office and in homes. The ZVOX Mini passed all of our tests with flying colors with everyone from 4-year-olds on up. When we were testing it with young children, who love the Jurassic Park film, they kept looking in the next room for more dinosaurs. It is absolutely amazing what this little box of speakers and technology can do for a television, iPOD, LCD TV, laptop PC, portable DVD player, or any other device that has a headphone jack.

The ZVOX Mini is truly a revolutionary single-cabinet audio system, with high-quality speakers, a built-in powered subwoofer and ZVOX's PhaseCue™ virtual surround sound system that creates lifelike, realistic, room-filling sound, with great bass. It comes with a 2-button remote control for volume that will take you from very loud to very low, with rich sound at both extremes. It also has an auto sensor that automatically turns on the unit when it senses sound coming into its amplifier. We found this automatic power on feature to be very responsive, never missing even the first note coming through the wires.

The ZVOX Mini is small, about the size of a videocassette recorder, measuring 13"w x 10"d x 3.25"h. In fact, in one of our tests, it sat on top of the videocassette recorder and looked like it belonged. It uses three 2.5" front drivers and a 4 x 6" woofer, plus a 40-watt amplifier sending 20 watts to the subwoofer, and 10 watts per channel to two stereo channels.

With its small size, the ZVOX Mini is ideal for music systems and TVs in smaller rooms, and for applications that require transportation. The cabinet weight is 7 pounds, and the power supply weight is 3 pounds. You can get it in three different colors: black, white or silver.
